The
modern powerhouse of the government and its engineers (Tehran means warm
slop) was originally a village on the suburb of city of Rey. Tehran's development
as an independent city, however, began in the 18th century, when it was
finally made Iran's capital by Agha Mohammad khan, the first of the Qajars
kings; that is why the most of the historical buildings of Tehran are of
the Qajar era.The main feature of Tehran's tourist attraction is the museums, which are interesting to see. The hottest months of the year are from mid-July to mid-September when temperatures range is about 28°- 30° C and the coldest months experience a 1° C temperature that is in December-January. Esfahan, Isfahan or ancient Aspadana has been the capital of the province of Esfahan since 900 years
ago. The city is located at the foot of the Zagros Mountain. The average height of the city is 1570m above sea level.This town has been the capital of Iran in mid of 7th century and served as a provincial capital. In the 11 century it was captured by the Seljuks, who made it 1051 the capital of their empire. In the early 13th century the Mongols captured Esfahan. In 1598 Shah Abbas( I ) under his supervision made reconstructed this town. He reconstructed this town with beautiful mosque & bridges. This town has a variety of beautiful masterpieces. The province of Esfahan experiences a moderate and dry climate on the whole, ranging between 40.6°C (being the maximum on a hot summers day), and the minimum being 10.6° C on a cold day in the winter season. The province of Yazd located in the center of Iran.The city of Yazd is the provincial capital and therefore is the most populous city.Yazd is one of the ancient cities where still a lot of Zoroastrian live there and it is one of the Iranian city which is the best example of cities in desert (Kavir). Kerman, the capital of Kerman province, located in 1603km to the south of Tehran, is a wonderful place. Modern Kerman is connected to all such centers by air (daily flight). The town is situated close to the wastes of Loot Desert, which is separated by a range of mountains, Its name is probably derived from the tribe of Germanium listed by Herodotus; believed to have been founded in the early 3rd century AD by Ardeshir ( I ), founder of Sassanian dynasty. During the Islamic period this town was one of the important cultural centers of Iran.The city of Kerman and the surrounding regions have a semi-moderate and dry climate , maximum and minimum temperature of 39.6°C and -7°C respectively. Khuzestan is a part of the historical land of Mesopotamia (between two rivers) in Iran. Khuzestan is the cradle of civilization of Eilam, which belongs to 1300 B.C. Khuzestan, is one of the regions, which are rich in Oil. The capital of this province is the city of Ahwaz and Karoon River is the longest river in Iran with 890km long. The river pass through Ahwaz and tilts to Persian Gulf.Due to its antiquity, this region holds several ancient historical monuments. Ziggurat temple in Chogha Zanbil is a distinct monument belonging to Elamite civilization of which the foundation dates back to mid 13th century BC. In archeological excavations made in haft Tappeh, the remains of palaces, inscriptions, and statues of Elamite time were discovered. City of Susa (Shoosh) : In addition to the antiquity of this city , the existence of the Shrine of Daniel the Prophet, has added a religious atmosphere to this town. 242,673 square km. It is one of the largest provinces of the country.
Mashhad Enjoying mountainous temperate climate, Mashhad is located at 909 km away from Tehran.Khorasan
is divided into three parts which are: Southern Khorasan, Razavi Khorasan
and Northern Khorasan. In the year 823 AD. the martyrdom of Imam Reza happened in Sanabad ,a place around Toos . after that this place was called Mashhad-e-Reza (place of martyrdom ) which became the name of the town of Mashhad. The two northwestern provinces of East & West Azerbaijan, with Tabriz and Urumieh as their capitals respectively are among Iran's richest and most fertile regions. The people of Azerbaijan speak a Turkish dialect called Azari. These provinces are geographically varied by mountain ranges, fertile plains and the large salt lake known as Urumieh Lake. One of Iran's highest peaks, Sahand is also located in this province.Generally, the East Azerbaijan province enjoys a cold and dry climate, Temperatures run up to 8.9°C in summer and in winters drops to -1°C. The weather of West Azerbaijan is influenced by humid air currents of the Atlantic Ocean and in the winter months the Mediterranean air currents have an effect for bringing down the temperature. This
city, the capital of Ardebil province, is 1,311 m above sea level, and lies
at a distance of 588 km from Tehran. Ardebil city was also inhabited from
Sassanid and Achaemenid eras. According to the Avesta (The holy book of
Zoroastrians), Zoroaster the prophet was born near Aras River, and wrote
in Avesta in Mount Sabalan.Sheikh Safi-al-Din Ardebili changed Ardebil into
a center for Sufis. Shah Esmail Safavid, one of his sons and the founder
of the Safavid dynasty in Iran, chose Tabriz as his capital.Most of the Ardabil province is mountainous with an average altitude of 3,000 m. above sea level. Gilan province is located in the north of Iran, stretching between the Alborz and Talesh Mountain Ranges. Rasht is the provincial capital. Gilan province, shares borders with the provinces of Ardebil on the west, Mazandaran on the east, Zanjan to the south and the Caspian Sea and the Republic of Azerbaijan to the north. In the year 1996, this province had a population of approximately 2.2 million, of which 46.8% were registered as urban dwellers and 53.2% as rural dwellers.Gilan enjoys a climate known as 'moderate Caspian'. Mazandaran province covers an area of 46,645 sq. The city of Sari is the center of Mazandaran province. Mazandaran (Khazar) Sea or the Caspian Sea is to the north, the provinces of Tehran and Semnan lie towards the south. To the west it has common borders with the Gilan province, and to the east stands the province of Golestan.There is not any information available on the ancient history of the province, and basically the climatic conditions of the region have prevented the existence of historical monuments. The Tabari or Mazandarani language is the ancient language of the Iranians or (Parsi) dialect. Mazandaran province naturally comes under the influence of the geographical latitude, Alborz heights, and elevation from sea level, distance from the sea. The province of Golestan with an area of 20,000 square km. is in the southeast of the Caspian Sea.The history of human settlements in the territory of Gorgan dates to a millennium BC. The evidences of the ancient city of Jorjan are near the current city of Gorgan. This was one of the important cities of Iran, located on the Silk Road. The Gorgan of today was known as Astar Abad, one of the archaic cities of Iran. The Turkamans reside in the north of the province, particularly in the cities of Gonbad and Bandar Turkaman. Other communities such as the Baluch, Turks, Afqans and Armenians also reside in this area, and have preserved their traditions and rituals. | Hamadan province and its civilization can be said to be one of the historical and extremely ancient parts of Iran, Relics of this area confirm this fact. Hamadan Township being in the vicinity of the Alvand Mountains has a cold, mountainous climate, with snowy winters and short mild summers. The city of Hamadan is the center of the province and is at a distance of 337 km. from Tehran. The structures of city are related to 'Diya Aku' one of the monarchs of the Medes, about (700 BC.). According to the records of a reputed Greek historian, this territory was called 'Ekbatan' and 'Hegmataneh' by this monarch. Thus being transformed into a huge capital, which was later reconstructed by Darius The Great. The city of Hamadan lay on the 'Silk Road'. Hormozgan province covers an area of 68,476 sq. km. and is situated in the south of Iran and to the north of the Persian Gulf. The Hormoz Strait is one of the focal and vital points in the jurisdiction of this province.The history of Hormozgan province intermingles with the geographical aspects of the Persian Gulf. Records show that the history of the Bandar-e-Hormoz began from the times of Ardeshir Babakan. The city of Bandar Abbas is the center of Hormozgan province and enjoys a favorable position both strategically on the shores of the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea and also in connection with economic fields. to the west of Iran covers an area of 28,559 sq. km. Khoram Abad is the
